Ever wondered if it was possible to send and/or receive mobile money via a WhatsApp wallet and instantly pay for your medical expenses at your local clinic or pharmacy in Zimbabwe? Yes? No? 

Well, please allow us to say HELLO, as we introduce you to our humble and innovative startup. We are a passionate team, committed to making it easy for anyone to send money to their loved ones in Zimbabwe, for the payment of healthcare and medical bills from anywhere in the world.

Since this is our first blog. We figured the best way to start, is by highlighting the problems we are trying to solve through the Kwali WhatsApp-based payment platform for healthcare and medical expenses in Zimbabwe:

1. Low transaction costs - Kwali charges a 5% transaction fee of the remitted amount, which is about 5% more affordable compared to mainstream money transfer services. 
2. We focus exclusively on remittance of medical funds - Kwali4u allows the benefactor (A Zimbabwean in the diaspora) to send money to the beneficiary (a Zimbabwean resident in Zimbabwe and in need of healthcare). Once the funds are received they are kept in a Kwali wallet accessible through WhatsApp, and only utilized for medical expenses at a Kwali approved partner. 3. Immediate access to funds - Once a Benefactor sends money to a beneficiary, the beneficiary will have access to those funds as soon as they are received. No waiting in line for cash collection, and no currency conversions required. These issues usually delay access to healthcare for the beneficiary at the earliest convenience, especially during an emergency.
4. Since we introduced Kwali, Benefactors have indicated that in some instances they would also like to have their beneficiaries covered by Medical Aid in Zimbabwe. We have responded, through Kwali, benefactors can now pay for medical aid contributions for their beneficiaries in Zimbabwe. This works well for those who want more certainty of the health care expenditure for their beneficiaries.

We are an impact driven startup and our idea of success is when the services we offer provide real change towards the  betterment of access to healthcare through innovative systems in Zimbabwe, mainly in rural areas where beneficiaries face multiple challenges when accessing healthcare services.
